Ichiro Nakagawa, Ph.D. (Chief Director of the Tapping Touch Association; Professor, Faculty of Human Sciences, Osaka University of Economics)

Dr. Nakagawa, the creator and developer of Tapping Touch, was born in Kyoto, Japan. He studied in the US as a student, graduating from the University of California at Berkeley in 1984 and obtaining his clinical psychology doctorate from the University of Rochester in 1990. Following his education, he worked as a licensed clinical psychologist in the San Francisco Bay area, and returned to Japan to continue his research and practice in holistic psychology in 2000.

Currently, Dr. Nakagawa is the Chief Director of the Tapping Touch Association and a Professor at Osaka University of Economics. He conducts holistic-care, research, and educational activities in various fields including psychology, healthcare, nursing, welfare, education, and disaster relief, both domestically and internationally.

 Dr. Nakagawa is also the author of several books in Japanese, including “Tapping Touch: Holistic Care for Mind, Body, and Earth” (Toki Publishing, 2004), “Serotonin Brain Health Method: Surprising Effects of Breathing, Sunlight, and Tapping Touch” (co-authored with Dr. Arita, Kodansha Books, 2009), “Relieving Mental and Physical Fatigue with Tapping Touch” (Seishun Publishing, 2012), and “Touch to Cultivate Caring – Tapping Touch” (Kitaoji Books, 2022), among others.
